Slowly I’m descending down 

Into darkness
This stranglehold on my sanity
Is relentless
The more I struggle
The deeper into the abyss I fall 
It’s just me and my demons, in isolation
Inside my head, looking over my shoulder
At the shadow of my former self

This emptiness deep inside me
Like staring into an endless void
Catatonic and mesmerized by
The beauty of my downward spiral

Collapsing
Beneath the deluge
Clawing at the cold black with hands of glass

Lurking in the dismal fog

Behind my eyes
Lying dormant in breathless sleep
Awakened
And ravenous
It feeds on the worst of me
A painted smile on this hollow shell
A withering shadow, as time erodes
Desperate days blur into
Dreams of death’s embrace

Collapsing

This crooked smile
And rotting limbs
